6 Tips for Healthier Hair
Nature Queen Shampoo & Conditionr
Happy Wednesday!
I hope you guys have had a great week so far! I'm so excited because life finally seems to be normalizing a bit, Mitsy seems to be doing alright, & we made so much headway on our office last week! We still have a ways to go, but I'm so happy to have a space to work in when working from home more in the coming months! What are you guys excited about for the coming weeks?
In today's post, I'm spilling all my healthy hair secrets with you guys! I've gotten so many kind comments on my hair and requests to do a 'hair tips' post over the past 6-8 months, so I'm excited to finally get to sharing with you guys! I hope these tips and tricks help you keep your hair healthy and in tip-top condition!
1) Do a Deep Conditioning Overnight Mask at Least Once a Week
This is definitely my #1 hair 'secret'! It helps so much with keeping your healthy and shiny. I mix my favorite conditioner or hair mask with some oils and leave it on my hair overnight, covered with a hair net, and have much softer and healthier-looking hair after I wash it the next day! I try to do one once a week, and notice a huge difference in the appearance of my hair when I do!
2) Use a Sodium Lauryl Sulfate-Free and Natural Shampoo
Using a sodium lauryl sulfate-free shampoo actually does make a difference in the health and appearance of your hair! Without going too much into it, sulfates, especially sodium lauryl sulfate, are too aggressive of a cleaning agent for hair, causing a number of unfortunate results due to the fact that they lift the cuticle and remove the protective liquid cap on your hair. What that means is weaker hair, frizz, longer drying time, a dry/irritated scalp, dulling residue, and other unpleasant consequences. Most cheap shampoos then recommend a silicone based conditioner to mask the effects of the harsh sulfates in the shampoo, which at best results in an artificial shine. I've been using Nature Queen Shampoo and Conditioner and love that not only are they natural and free from sodium lauryl sulfate, but they contain only the best quality ingredients, including 9 powerful and effective herbs (which means they smell amazing! I feel so relaxed and like I'm in spa when I shower now!), but more on that in point three!

3) Use Shampoo & Conditioner with Benefits!
Aside from being natural and sodium lauryl sulfate-free, Nature Queen hair products have quickly become a favorite because they do so much more than clean and condition my hair! They work to address dandruff, hair loss, infection, hair thinning, oily scalp, and dry scalp. They were made by a chemist who was suffering from postpartum hair loss, and after having little to no success with the products already on the market, decided to try an ancient herbal hair rinse recipe from her grandmother. The hair rinse made her hair so much stronger & healthier and helped so much with her hair loss, that she decided to create shampoo and conditioner with the herbal ingredients so that women everywhere could experience the same changes in their hair. I absolutely love products that are multi-functional! I love makeup with skincare benefits, phone cases with credit card slots, and love that now I'm working towards thicker & healthier hair every time I wash it! Our hair takes such a beating from styling, that being proactive about using products to restore it makes a huge difference in keeping it healthy!
4) Don't Wash Every Day
While you might be tempted to wash your hair more often when using a product that does so much for your hair, it is best to try to go at least a day in between washings. While sodium lauryl sulfate-free shampoos are gentle on your hair, they're still removing the natural oils, which if done too much can result in a dry scalp and your hair getting oily faster. Washing it every other day helps train it to not over-produce oil! If you're feeling like you need some help on your days off of washing, try using a dry shampoo until your hair gets used to producing less oil between washes!

5) Rinse in Cool Water
Hot water can also irritate the scalp and dry it and your hair out! Its best to use warm water when shampooing and cooler water when you rinse out your conditioner... This also helps to smooth and seal the hair foloclies, resulting in less frizz and more shine!
6) Take a Few Days off
Blow dryers and hot styling tools really do a lot of damage to your hair! While you can help minimize the damage with heat protectant sprays and creams, they still don't eliminate all of it. Giving your hair a few days off helps to keep it as healthy as possible and prevent an excessive amount of breakage. When I take a few days off from styling my hair, I always notice that the next time I style it, my hair ends up looking so much better and holding the style better! Plus, since it's summer, you can totally get away with styling it less and having that 'beach hair' look! It will even look healthier unstyled if you follow these tips!
Those are my top tips and tricks! I'll definitely be sharing more in the future, especially regarding how I style my hair, but for now I'd love to hear your thoughts on these tricks! Do you use any of them? If so, do you feel they've helped you maintain healthier hair? Let me know!
